LETTER TO HER

She caged my defenseless
Body in her belly for nine months
Protecting me to have life
While she suffered
Vomiting and nausea
But her joy was to
Bring forth the
Substance in her protruding tummy

She allowed my toothless
Mouth to suck her breast
In order to survive
The pains of hunger
When my sluggish hands
Could not carry the weight
Of her breast
But to fiddle around it

When I could not find
The way to my own mouth
She milked me till I smiled

I could only pay her back
For feeding my hungry stomach
With enough milk
By urinating and defecating
Myself on her laps (hahaha pampers came late…lol)
And taking pride
In my rude action
By laughing out
My toothless mouth to her
She would just smile back
At my actions and say to me
Son…are you alright?

When she heard my shrill cry
From afar
She ran to protect me
Although she didn’t understand
The words of my cry
She tried to comfort me
She carried me
On her alms with the utmost care
On my sick cot
She spent several nights
Thinking about my health
While others enjoyed the merits
Of their beds
This is my letter to her
Happy mother’s Day to you
